Medical excellence award goes to neurology expert

This year's Ramaciotti Medal for excellence in Australian Medical Research has been awarded to Professor Elspeth McLachlan of Sydney's Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute.

The $10,000 prize was given to Professor McLachlan for her position as the world authority on neural pathways within the autonomic nervous system.

Her work has led to improved understanding and treatment of hypertension, stress, disorders of blood flow and bodily functions such as digestion, body temperature control, continence and ageing problems.
