National synopsis as of Thursday, 4AM

A trough over QLD and NSW is causing isolated showers and storms. The monsoon is generating heavy rain and storms over the tropics. Strong westerly winds are causing showers in TAS, some wintry over high ground. Hot, dry easterly winds are keeping southern SA and southern WA dry. The northern jet is dipping south over WA, helping hot weather persist in the southwest of the state. The southern jet is helping drive strong, cold winds north into TAS.
