Emergency services say an industrial dryer was to blame for a large fire in Townsville in north Queensland on Tuesday night.

Fire crews were called to a building in Leyland Street at Garbutt at about 6:00pm (AEST).

Two people were injured in the fire and are receiving treatment.

The area was cordoned off while crews battled the blaze.
